Die Trying - S/T EP Artwork

I Die Trying sono una band hardcore/metal/southern di Milano. Li conosco perchè alcuni di loro militavano in una band che condivideva la sala prove con i La Crisi e perchè ogni tanto ci si becca a qualche concerto. La loro idea era di realizzare qualcosa di molto violento, possibilmente con un sasquatch e qualche testa mozzata ma soprattutto qualcosa che fosse anche ironico e "thrash".
Dopo una proposta bocciata perchè era troppo "soft" mi sono buttato su un disegno più esplicito e palesemente horror.
Il sasquatch è una creatura che mi è sempre piaciuta (tra l'altro esistono, non venitemi a dire che non è vero!). Quando avevo 15 anni avevo formato una punk band con alcuni compagni di scuola (suonavo cover di Ramones, Bad Religion e Offspring) che si chiamava proprio Sasquatch!!
Inoltre sono stato per molti anni un boyscout e quindi ho pensato bene di infilarci un bel ragazzotto in divisa e foulard decapitato per poter disegnare tutti i dettagli e le immagini di contorno per questo artwork (la torcia e il coltellino svizzero).
Anche questa volta tutto il lettering dei testi, il logo e gli inchiostri sono realizzati a mano!

Questo disco è scaricabile acquistandolo sulla loro pagina bandcamp (DIE TRYING) e presto diponibile in formato digipack presso i loro concerti e nei "migliori negozi di dischi", perciò state in campana.
Nonostante non sia il tipo di hardcore che preferisco, i ragazzi spingono alla grande e secondo me sono un più che valido gruppo. Meritano di essere ascoltati, decisamente!!

Die Trying is a hardcore/metal/southern band from Milan. I know them because some of them were active in a band that shared the studio rehearsals with La Crisi and because sometimes I meet them at some gigs. Their idea was to do something very violent, possibly with a sasquatch and a few severed heads and a drawing that was ironic and "thrash" also. After a rejected proposal, because it was too "soft" I tried to to make a more explicit and clearly horror drawing.
I've always liked the sasquatch (they exist, don't tell me that's not true!). 
When I was 15 I had formed a punk band with some school friends (we played covers of Ramones, Bad Religion and Offspring) called Sasquatch!
I 've also been a Boy Scout for many years so I decided to include a nice guy in uniform and group badge headless to let me draw all the details and additional illustrations for this artwork (the torch and the swiss boxcutter).
The lettering of the lyrics, logo and inks are hand-drawn as usual.

This record is available for the download buying it on their bandcamp page (DIE TRYING) and soon available on digipack at their shows and in the "best record stores", so stay tuned.
Although it is not the kind of hardcore I prefer, the boys are strong and determined and I think they are a very good band. They deserve to be listened, definitely!

First proposal.

De Crew - "Worse than yesterday, better than tomorrow" - LP artwork

Uno dei lavori che ho svolto in questi mesi è per una delle storiche band hardcore di Milano, i De Crew.

Non c'è molto da dire: sono una delle prime 4 band hardcore che ho visto (in un concerto al Tunnel con Sottopressione, Free The Four e Reality nel lontano '96), suonando nei LaCrisi ho avuto l'opportunità di condividere molti palchi con loro e per questo ne sono legato affettivamente.
Insieme ai Raw Power, sono una delle band più longeve nel panorama punk della nostra penisola (quindi massimo rispetto!) e nonostante l'età, svariati cambi di formazione, incertezze del tempo e mutamento musicale, i DeCrew, dopo più di 20 anni, sono ancora in giro a suonare.

Mi pare ovvio che disegnare e fare grafiche per il loro nuovo disco per me è stata una soddisfazione incredibile, e ho avuto la possibilità di realizzare uno dei miei lavori più completi e complessi, perciò grazie ragazzi!
Sebbene i disegni siano miei, la stampa è stata affidata ad Andrea di Corpoc, uno dei serigrafi più in gamba e visionari in circolazione!

Il disco è disponibile solo in vinile (tiratura limitata a 300 copie - stampa a 3 colori su carta 400gr) e in digitale (aggratis!) sulla loro pagina di bandcamp.

This is one of the works I've done in these months to a historic hardcore band from Milan, De Crew.

Not much to say: they are one of the first 4-hardcore band that I saw for the first time (during a concert at Tunnel with Sottopressione, Free and The Four Reality way back in '96), playing in LaCrisi I had the opportunity to share stages with them and for that I am bound to the band.
With the Raw Power, are one famous band in the punk scene of the Italian peninsula (maximum respect!) And despite their age, several lineup changes, uncertainties of time and musical changes, DeCrew, after more than 20 years, still playing.

It seems obvious that making drawings and graphics for their new record, it was an incredibly satisfying feeling for me, and I had the chance to realize one of the more complete and complex works that I ever made, so thank you guys!
The drawings are mine but printing was assigned to Andrea Corpoc, one of the most brilliant and visionary screen printers around!

The album is only available on vinyl (limited edition of 300 copies - 3 colors on paper 400gr) and digital (for free) on their bandcamp page.

The rest is to look at!

Fast Food is not Good Food.

Disegnare teschi è banale. Lo fanno tutti e l'ho sempre fatto anche io.
Però questa volta mi è stato richiesto, non è stata colpa mia!
La richiesta era "realizzare una mini-serie di due illustrazioni ironiche sulla morte".
Questo è il risultato.

Drawing skulls is trivial. Everyone do them, and I also have always drawn.
But this time it was asked me, it wasn't my fault!
The request was "make a mini-series of two ironic illustrations about death" and this is the result.

Three months of apparent death feat. a tribute poster to Motorhead!

3 mesi di apparente stop.  Non è stato pubblicato nulla non perchè abbiamo smesso di disegnare/stampare ma perchè in questi mesi abbiamo lavorato moltissimo ed è capitato che sono diventato padre ( non a caso di due gemelli! Toh! Che sorpresa!).
Sia io che Ale abbiamo lavorato molto sia su Thunderbeard sia su altro ma per ragioni di privacy e per serietà tutti i lavori che abbiamo svolto in questi mesi, non essendo ancora stati pubblicati, non li abbiamo inseriti. D'altronde ad agosto è da stupidi pubblicare qualcosa; la gente in vacanza guarda meno il computer e i relativi social networks inoltre ha soldi da spendere solo in ombrelloni e cocktails, no? Tanto vale aspettare settembre!

Il lavoro che stiamo per pubblicare è in cantiere da parecchio tempo. Kappa, titolare-fondatore di Ammonia Records non mi ha messo alcuna fretta per questo tipo di lavoro, specie per i poster.
Si tratta di una compilation tributo ai Motorhead nella quale sono presenti diversi artisti noti nel panorama alternativo italiano. L'idea è stata sua: aveva provato per i fatti suoi a mettere su un Lemmy conciato come la Marilyn di Warhol però, giustamente, non essendo il suo lavoro ha preferito delegare a me il compito di realizzarlo. Questa grafica non è affatto frutto di un lavoro troppo impegnativo, sembra evidente, ma il relativo poster è stato per noi (soprattutto per Ale) un vero e proprio traguardo.
Il primo poster a 4 colori con dimensioni sufficienti per essere considerato tale!
Inutile dire che siamo tutti quanti molto soddisfatti di quanto realizzato.

Three months of apparent stop. We've not published anything not because we've stopped drawing / print, but because in these months we have worked very hard and it happened that I became a daddy ( Twins! What a surprise!). Ale and I have worked hard on Thunderbeard and other projects but for privacy and seriousness for all works we have done in recent months, we have not included because they are still unpublished. Moreover, in August it's stupid to release something, people on vacation don't use the computer and its social networks too much also have money to spend in umbrellas and cocktails only, right? Might wait until September as well!

The work we are going to post is in process for quite some time. Kappa, owner-founder of Ammonia Records, was in no hurry for this job, especially for the poster.
It is a compilation tribute to Motorhead with several well-known artists in the Italian alternative scene.
Kappa had the idea: he had tried on his own to put on a Lemmy rigged like Warhol's Marilyn, however, rightly, he has preferred to delegate to me the task of achieving it.
This graphic is not the result of a challenging job, it seems clear, but its poster was a real breakthrough for us (especially for Ale).
The first 4-color poster with sufficient size to be considered "Poster"!
Needless to say, we are all very satisfied with what realized.
