Thunderbeard x Spaghetto Child - "Bem's Tuck-Knee"

Oggi è il 24 di maggio 2013 e la scorsa notte gli inchiostri si sono finalmente posati su delle maglie che dallo scorso inverno avrebbero dovuto vedere la luce. 

Io e Gianlu (Spaghetto Child nonchè Boss ineguagliabile di Lambrooklyn) è da un pò che ne parliamo, quasi un anno oserei dire, ma poi tra un pò di cazzi ci siamo persi per poi riprenderne a parlare concretamente lo scorso autunno (esattamente fine ottobre se la memoria non mi inganna). Ho iniziato a disegnare a inizio novembre pensando di mandare tutto in stampa al massimo per metà dicembre in modo che le maglie potessero essere finite e disponibili per Natale o capodanno al massimo. Poi però il soggetto iniziale (il Bergum, personaggio noto nella Milano Skateboarding) non funzionava e quindi ne abbiamo ridiscusso e optato per dare a Bem (il fedele anziano cane di Gianlu) il ruolo del protagonista assoluto (io poi vado a nozze se devo disegnare delle bestie!!). Ovviamente i tempi si sono dilatati (anche perchè alla fine non è che ci correva a presso qualcuno) e tutto è slittato a febbraio e da allora sebbene avessimo il disegno pressochè definitivo, ci siamo inchiodati su alcuni dettagli che continuando a modificare non convincevano, soprattutto con il soggetto da mettere sul fronte della maglia.. ci sono voluti esattamente 3 mesi perchè ci convincessimo a stampare e alla fine, vuoi perchè ormai era troppo tempo che ci giravamo attorno, vuoi perchè questa domenica c'è il compleanno della bowl di Lambrate (10 fottuti anni!!) e abbiamo pensato, quindi, che fosse figo far coincidere con tale ricorrenza la presentazione ufficiale di questa collaborazione.

Zoe's and the four Elements!

Dopo due anni a questa parte sono ritornato a collaborare con Zoe's, un negozio d'abbigliamento di Manerbio dedito anche alla produzione di abbigliamento ecologico. Appassionati di arte, illustrazione e musica, ogni anno decidono di produrre t-shirt e accessori rigorosamente con materiale ecologico e trattato ad impatto zero e a favore della natura, coinvolgendo artisti per le grafiche ed eventuali mostre.
Come nel 2011, anche quest'anno sono stato chiamato per collaborare ad una serie di illustrazioni che verranno stampate sui capi. Il tema sono i quattro elementi della natura: terra, fuoco, aria e acqua.
Certamente è un tema abbastanza gettonato ed è anche per questo che è stata una sfida ardua da affrontare. Quì sotto, come al solito, il work in progress delle illustrazioni...

Come al solito ogni maglia è stampata da Ale.

La presentazione al pubblico di questa nuova linea di magliette si terà l'8 giugno presso Zoe's Store a Manerbio, Brescia. Tutti i dettagli li potete trovare quì.

After two year I got back to work with Zoe's, a clothing store in Manerbio dedicated to the production of environmentally friendly clothing.
They are art, illustration and music lovers and  every year they decided to produce t-shirts and accessories strictly using eco-friendly material and zero impact in favor of nature, involving artists for graphics and exhibitions.
As in 2011, this year I have been called to create a series of illustrations that will be printed on t-shirts. The theme is the four elements of nature: earth, fire, air and water. Certainly it is a theme pretty used For this reason that has been a formidable challenge to deal with.

As usual, all the shirts are printed by Ale.

The presentation of this new series of t-shirts will take place on June 8 at Zoe's Store in Manerbio, Brescia. All the details can be found here.

Rocket from the Crypt - Show poster

Questo disegno è in rete da un paio di mesi ormai. Volevo spendere un paio di parole su quanto fatto perchè venisse capito al massimo:

prima di tutto ci tengo a dire che è stato un onore, un immenso piacere e una soddisfazione incredibile poter disegnare, stampare, vendere e condividere con la band stessa questo mio (nostro) lavoro.
L'accozzaglia di roba che c'è in questo poster non è casuale. Pochi forse l'hanno capito, probabilmente solo chi possiede più di un paio di dischi originali della band o i fanatici (quelli veri) appassionati collezionisti e la gente che prende l'aereo dalla Sardegna per potersi vedere l'unica data italiana del gruppo in questione; i Rocket from the Crypt!
Ho volutamente pescato i soggetti principali dei loro album, reinterpretarli e rielaborarli dandogli un senso tutto mio, ispirandomi alle illustrazioni dei vecchi fumetti fantascientifici o horror (come al solito).
I cactus da "State of art is on fire", Il cobra da "Group sound" munito di chele da scorpione ("Scream Dracula, Scream!") che tengono una palla stroboscopica ("Circa Now"). Il gorilla e la creatura ammanettata da "RFTC" e il cartello con la forchetta ("Live from Camp X-Ray").
Insomma, gli ingredienti caratteristici ci sono e non ho voluto utilizzare il loro meraviglioso logo (semplicemente PERFETTO) per evitare banalità e per riuscire a creare qualcosa che potessero apprezzare i veri fans dei rockers di San Diego, come me.

Ormai questa illustrazione è stata vista, condivisa, apprezzata e settimana scorsa è stato stampata grazie alle solite mani di Ale. Ieri sera ha visto la luce ed è stata approvata anche da Speedo che, soddisfatto si è preso 6 copie per i suoi compagni e altre 2 copie per amici.
Tutto questo è capitato grazie a Corra, che ci ha permesso di disegnare e stampare questa illustrazione e dare un piccolo contributo artistico nella "galleria" della band. Per noi è un onore aver preso parte (seppur minuscola) alla grande storia dei Rocket from the Crypt, musicisti incredibili, personaggi unici.

This design is on the net from a couple of months now. I wanted to spend some words because this illustration could be understood at best:

first of all, I want to say that was an honor and a great pleasure and an incredibly satisfy can draw, print, sell and share with the band, this my (our) work.
The mixture of stuff in this poster is not accidental. Few of you have realized it. Probably only those with more than a couple of original records of the band or the fanatics (the real ones), collectors and people who take the plane from Sardinia to attend the only Italian date of Rocket from the Crypt!
I deliberately caught the main subjects of their albums, reinterpret them and rework giving them a sense of my own, inspired by the illustrations of old sci-fi and horror comics (as usual).

The cacti from "State of Art is on fire", the cobra from "Group Sound", equipped with scorpion claws ("Scream Dracula, Scream") holding a disco ball ("Circa Now"), the gorilla and the creature handcuffed by "RFTC" and the sign with a fork ("Live from Camp X-Ray").
In short, the "ingredients" are there and I didn't want use their wonderful logo (simply PERFECT) to avoid banality and create something that would be appreciated by true fans of the San Diego rockers, like me.

This illustration was seen, shared, appreciated and last week was printed by Ale. 
Last night it saw the light and it was also approved by Speedo who satisfied, took 6 copies for his fellows and 2 other copies for friends.
This happened thanks to Corra, who allowed us to design and print this illustration and give a small contribution in the art "gallery" of the band. For us it was an honor to take part (a small part) to the great history of Rocket from the Crypt, incredible musicians, unique characters.

Siamo finalemente orgogliosi di presentare le tanto attese magliette Thunderbeard!
Dopo più di un mese di lavoro sono nelle nostre mani e qualcuna è già stata indossata, vista e comprata.
Questo lavoro è frutto di una collaboarzione affiatata con Ale di Fingerprints, a tutti gli effetti una "barba" in quanto attivo al 100% nel progetto per aver stampato e per aver partecipato dal punto di vista creativo.

After a month of work are now in our hands. Some of them have already seen, bought and worn.
This work is the result of a close-knit collaboration with Ale of Fingerprints, a new "beard" because 100% active in the project to have dealt with the screen printing and for taking part in creative point of view.
