Entrare in una fumetteria è deleterio per il proprio portafoglio (e per la salute mentale). Uscire da una fumetteria senza qualcosa tra le mani per me è quasi impossibile e quando capita mi sento come se avessi fatto 20 km di corsa. Una fatica pazzesca insomma e infatti, per questo motivo, cerco di non entrarci troppo spesso. Ultimo fumetto (meglio novella grafica) è stato "Il cavaliere oscuro" di Miller. Certo banale come acquisto ma fondamentale. Ovvio avrei dovuto pensarci tempo fa ad acquistarlo (e infatti mi hanno inculato sul prezzo perche con l'uscita del film di Nolan "Il ritorno del Cavaliere Oscuro" hanno lucrato un casino sull merch di Batman. Vabbè che s'inculino, io sono contento ugualmente. Purtroppo però la mia vera passione (da un punto di vista illustrativo) sono i fumetti vintage. Mi ha preso quando ho acquistato un libro dedicato ai vecchi fumetti horror e di fantascienza intitolato "The Horror! The Horror!" a Boston due anni fa. Da allora spesso per le illustrazioni cerco ispirazione e soluzioni dai vecchi illustratori che disegnavano per quelle collane.
Dal tratto (che comunque riproduco a modo mio) all'impaginazione dei testi.
Forbidden Worlds (ma anche il precedente "The Attack of the Raccoons") vuole essere la prima uscita di copertine per "fumetti mai esistiti" ispirate alle storie illustrate dell'epoca.
Non credo di avere ancora la costanza e l'inventiva di creare e disegnare un intero fumetto anche se è inevitabile che prima o poi ci provi e quindi, per il momento, racconto le copertine.

The passion for comics is difficult to manage. And if you don't have the money, don't talk about it at all. Get into a comic shop is fatal to your wallet (and mental health). Get out of a comic shop without something in my hands is almost impossible for me and when it happens I feel like I had run for 20 kilometers. A crazy effort! In fact, for this reason, I dont' go there very often.
My latest comic purchased (better call it "graphic novel") was "The Dark Knight" by Frank Miller. Certainly a simple buying, but essential. Of course I should have thought to buy time ago (and in fact traders have cheated me with the price because with the release of Nolan's film "The Return of the Dark Knight" they have increased all the prices for the merch of Batman.
I don't give a fuck, I'm happy anyway. Unfortunately, my real passion (from the point of view of the illustration) are the vintage comic book. It's began when I bought a book on old horror and science fiction comics titled "The Horror! The Horror!" in a bookstore in Boston two years ago. Since then, when I draw, I seek inspiration and solutions from the old illustrators who drew those tales.
Forbidden Worlds (as well as the previous "The Attackof the Raccoons") wants to be the first release of covers for "comics ever lived" inspired by the illustrated stories of the time.
I don't think I have the patience and creativity to create and draw a entire comic story even if it's inevitable that sooner or later I will try. At the moment I tell with the covers.
